
ABOUT MICHAEL
Michael Corrie
After transitioning from a career in aviation maintenance engineering, Michael Corrie followed his passion for storytelling and began work as a historian, prop master and LA-based art director in the film industry. Currently, he is the Art Director at FonCo Studios.
Michael has worked on shows like Magnum PI, Babylon, Ted s2, Disney’s Saturdays, The Chi and over 50 commercials, short films and stage productions.
As independent film historian @PropstoHistory, he has amassed a following of over half a million people telling the stories of the artists and makers who came before him. In this work, he has been given unprecedented access to nearly 2000 screen-used props in private collections and production archives. notably including the original Arc of the Covenant and the Letter of Transit from 1942s Casablanca.
Additionally, he has been tasked with authenticating . Michael has worked with industry standouts, including Earl Hayes Press, Tested, Alterian Studios, and Thingergy Inc., Warner Brothers Studios, Universal Studios, Sony Entertainment, Ghostcore and Make Magazine.
He is dedicated to preserving not only the history of props in film, but sharing his skills and talents with the next generation, bringing workshops, panels and lectures to notable organizations like the Indiana Children’s Museum, The Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, UCLA, Ohio State University and MakerFaire Mare Island. He has appeared with industry leaders on panels at several major North American conventions including Chattacon, NocoCon, DragonCon, GenCon, Indiana ComicCon, EmeraldCityComicCon, and Wondercon.
